Why I chose Chiropractic

The chiropractic profession chose me after my grandfather passed away and an episode of “ER” changed my career path from medical doctor to chiropractor. I realized watching that episode that I wanted to know more about my patients than one surgery or one emergency.  I wanted to make a greater impact in this world and being a chiropractor is allowing me to fulfill that dream.   Twenty years later, I love being a chiropractor!  I have been given the greatest opportunity through the chiropractic profession to serve others and help people heal naturally and without drugs.

Chiropractic Education

I went to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. I chose to go to school at the Fountainhead of Chiropractic because the day I first visited the school it felt like home. What surprised me about the education I acquired was I was trained to be a chiropractor, but I wasn’t educated on being a business owner. That education has happened over the last 14 years and I am still learning. I found Gross Anatomy class one of my favorite classes, to look inside the human body and see how everything connects to one another is exciting and I am still using that education today. I participated in a mission trip to Nepal before graduation. It was one of my greatest experiences in life. The group took a flight up to see Mt. Everest and the beauty of that mountain is awe-inspiring and I could understand why climbers want to try to conquer it. I saw people and culture that still follow many customs that we laid down for them centuries ago. I learned on that trip not to take anything or anyone for granted and to appreciate the people and things I have.Read more »

My Family

I am a very family-oriented person. I have been married for 20 years and I have two children.  My 13-year old daughter is involved in volleyball, basketball and bowling and 9-year old son is involved in basketball, swimming and bowling.   I met my spouse in a bowling center and we have been together for 22 years. During my personal time, I enjoy spending time with my family and reading.  During the summer, my family and I spend all of our free time up north at the campground and on the river.  My husband and children enjoy watersports and we love the sun. Those long summer days spent on the water and with family recharge my inner spirit and bring 100% to my patients everyday.  During the winter months, we like to curl up on the couch before the fire and drink hot chocolate, dreaming about camping season.

Maintaining an Active Lifestyle

My family and I are adjusted every week.  Since beginning the transition of the practice to a Brain-based Wellness model, my family has been receiving adjustments twice weekly and using the MindFit Neurotrainer to help retrain our brains to enhance our performance in school, work, at play and most importantly at rest.  My husband and I both exercise 4 to 5 days per week.   My family believes being active is one of the greatest gifts that we have been given in this life.

My approach to vaccines is not to vaccinate. I believe we have a better chance at a stronger immune system with my children developing natural immunity to disease than the artificial way. Research reveals that non-vaccinated children are healthier than vaccinated children. “Better health through better chemistry'”  does not work!  Today everyone seems to view vaccination as a standard, safe procedure.  What most don’t know is (1) what is being injected directly into the system is bypassing the first levels of your body’s defense, the immune system and (2) the statistics used by science  are far greater than the public knows and are far from incidental.  The level of hidden damage isn’t just about childhood vaccines it includes all forms, from shingles to the yearly flu shots.  We have to remember that there is NO such thing as a free flu shot-BIG PHARMA gets paid!
